History of San Bartolome de Malabon

Our Parish Church...

                                           It's Edifice.....

The church measures 70.14 m. long and 25.05 m. wide. It has a central nave and two aisles, transept and a done in the media naranja or barrel vault style, cupped by a campanile. The porch is supported by imposing Ionic columns, which resembles a Graeco-Roman temple. The Church, according to I.V. Mallari, "dominated not only the street but also the surrounding area." The Ionic colonnade is visually satisfying, "one of the most beautiful examples of ecclesiastical architecture that Spain has left this country."

                                      It's Foundation.....

Tambobong now known as Malabon was founded as a "Visita" of Tondo, Manila on 21 May 1599. It composed of two small islands namely Navotas and Maysilo.

On 17 May 1614 Tambobong was established as an independent parish under the advocation of San Bartolome Apostol with Rev. Fr. Luis Gutierrez, O.S.A. as the first Vicar Prior.
                                   It's Feast Day.....

Malabon celebrates the feast of their Patron saint, Apostle Saint Bartholomew every 24th day of August.
